The area is known world-wide for this fishery and also for halibut and salmon in the waters of Cook Inlet. Clam digging is another adventure enjoyed along the scenic local beaches.

Nearby Kachemak Bay State Park and the Kenai Fjords National Park are species-rich ecosystems that offer breathtaking scenery and plenty of opportunity for wildlife viewing.
